Sex Ed By Kelly
May 14th, 2007Kelly Connell M.S.Ed., Ed.D.(c), is a sexuality educator and consultant who specializes in sexuality and health care issues. She provides education and training to health care professionals, patients and their significant others as well as working with agencies and universities to deliver sexuality education in a comprehensive and engaging manner.
Kelly has a Master’s Degree in Human Sexuality Education from the University of Pennsylvania and is currently working on her dissertation for her Doctorate in the same at Widener University. She is a member of the American Association of Sexuality Educators Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) and the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality (SSSS).
Kelly got her start in sexuality education under the direction of Robert W. Hatfield, Ph.D., as a teaching assistant for his undergraduate human sexuality course at the University of Cincinnati. While a graduate student at Penn, Kelly provided sexual health education programs to undergraduate students in the residence halls and assisted the Student Health Education Department with training peer educators to provide education on sexual health, body image issues and drug and alcohol safety. She has worked in reproductive health care for 17 years, both as an educator and counselor to adults as well as adolescents. Her recent work with adolescents includes managing the health resource center at Martin Luther King High School and coordinating the Supporting Teens on the Go (STOP) Program at Philadelphia Youth Emergency Services.
Recognizing that sexuality is an important quality of life issue, Kelly has provided over 50 hours of education to health care providers in the Delaware Valley area and has facilitated patient support groups for discussion and education of sexuality issues related to illness and disability. She is co-author of “Sexuality and Scleroderma” a pamphlet published by the American Scleroderma Society.
Kelly has appeared as a Guest Sexuality Expert on XM Satellite Radio, is listed as a sexuality expert on howtohavegoodsex.com where she answers questions and provides information on sexuality and is the author of “Kelly’s Korner”, a column for MensForte.com, a popular online men’s health magazine. She has authored several online articles on sexuality published on EZinearticles.com and GOArticles.com
